KYPC GALAXY 0 - 1 WALLSEND BC GREENS

KYPC Galaxy 0-1 Wallsend Boys Club Greens

Pin Point Junior Recruitment League Division 2

11.00am

A return of action after a 3 week break without a game for Galaxy came in the shape of league leaders Wallsend who have brushed aside many teams this season. It was another game were these two sides have never met and it was going to be the biggest challenge so far for Galaxy this season and it was not helped by the blustery conditions which would go on to spoil the game for both sides as the wind played havoc throughout. The pitch was passed playable after an 8.30am pitch inspection due to the past few days down pour with the pitch been in almost perfect condition.

Galaxy lined up with Jamie in goal, a backline of Luke, James and Elliott, the midfield had Scott and Jake in the middle and Sam and Callum on the wings with Dominic starting up front, this left Jordan, Dean and Ethan on the bench. From the off Wallsend took control of the ball and looked to punish Galaxy from the off and provide a constant threat down the right hand side but Elliott was on hand to stop any attacks or any balls been played into the box. Wallsend as expected seen a lot of the ball and Galaxy were sitting been patient and defending well as Jamie made an excellent save on 5 minutes. When Galaxy did attack Dominic was trying to get the ball to stick and allow the midfield to join in the attacks with Callum and Sam been given instruction's of making it a front 3 when we attack. It was mid way through the 1st half and Wallsend struck with an excellent finish from their striker who turned and struck the ball into the top corner from 15 yards out 0-1. Galaxy having seen very little of the oppositions box as we struggled to get to grips with the conditions went close as Callum chased down a back pass and made their keeper make an error and with an empty goal to strike at the ball fell to Luke who shot wide with his first attempt shot.

Half time came around and Galaxy were trailing 0-1 and they had defending really well but had lacked any flair going forward as Wallsend had shown why they are sitting at the top of the league. The second half started and Galaxy remained in the game as long as it was still 0-1 and they kept doing their jobs they had been told to do. Scott and Jake were putting in a real shift in the middle of the park and Ethan was trying his best against the wind to break forward with the ball when we won it back with Dean on the left side of the midfield trying to support the attacks. Wallsend again seen the majority of the possession but in James at the centre of the defence could not break through the middle as well as Jordan on the right side they could not get past our backline. When they did get through Jamie was there to sweep up with his hands and take control and gain possession for Galaxy. The game fizzled out and Wallsend won 0-1 with both sides shaking hands and surely if the conditions hadn't have had such a big affect it could have been a much better game for both sides.

On Reflection as both managers spoke to the boys at the end of the game they were credited for an excellent overall defensively team performance as they stood up to the league leaders and the terrible windy conditions but were also told we need to be better going forward which the boys agreed they needed to be less wasteful when on the ball.
