RED HOUSE FARM KITES 1 - 4 KYPC GALAXY

Red House Farm Kites Vs KYPC Galaxy

Pin Point Recruitment Challenge Shield Round 2

9.30am

Another weekend seen another cup game as Galaxy faced a side they have never came across before in Red House Farm Kites in the 2nd round of the Challenge Shield after previously beaten Montagu in the 1st round only 2 weeks ago. Galaxy had a fully fit squad to choose from with Dominic shaking of an injury scare from last week’s game and passing fit. Galaxy lined up with Jamie in goal and a back 3 of Luke, James and Jordan, the midfield was in the shape of a diamond as Scott started in defensive and Ethan Attacking midfield and Sam and Dean on the wings. This left Elliott, Jake and Dominic on the subs bench waiting for the chance to get on to impress.

Galaxy from the off took the game to Red House and within minutes of the whistle been blown Callum raced clear their centre back and curled the ball towards the top corner only for their keeper to pull off a world class save and tip it wide. Galaxy forced a few corners early on with Sam and Scott over lapping but failing to find the goal as the shot sailed wide, but minutes later Galaxy deep in the Red House half took a throw and the ball was cleared but Ethan, who chested the ball down and from 30 yards from goal struck the ball on the volley straight into the back of the goal, 1-0 Galaxy 10 minutes played. Moments after Jamie in goal caught a long ball played over the top who quickly released the ball and with Ethan over lapping Callum, Callum played Ethan 1 on 1 who cooly chipped the on rushing Red House keeper from 20 yards 2-0 Galaxy. This seemed to wake the opposition up and with Galaxy leading 2-0 they started to come into the game and they were playing some smart stuff themselves and created a few chances of their own but the back line of Luke James and Jordan dealt with the danger. On came Dominic for Callum and Elliott for Jordan who had took a knock and also Jake for Ethan to freshen things up as Red House pushed for a goal and seconds before half time they got their goal as their striker tapped in a low cross, 1-2 half time Galaxy.

At half time Ethan came on for Scott and the lads were told they needed to keep composed and get the next goal and cut out the Red House dangerous attacks and that is what they exactly did as Red House pushed on early in the second half the full team stayed strong and defended well as a team.  Sam and Dean on the wings switched and Dean who has been a revelation since signing in the summer was having a decent game as was Sam who’s pace was worrying their full backs as he drove at them with his silky skills and with the excellent Elliott just behind they were forming a good partnership. Dean came off and Callum came back on left wing and with Dominic performing well up top holding the ball up allowing the midfield to join the attacks, Jake went close with a long range effort but it just went wide. A few more changes seen Scott come back on and Jordan take Lukes place at the back Red house again pushed for an equaliser and hit the bar with a great strike, this woke Galaxy up who knew they were not over the finishing line as of yet. With 10 minutes left to play, Callum pushed back up front, raced clear with his pace and pushed the ball to the right of the keeper and he ran left around the keeper to run onto the ball and finish into an empty net 3-1 Galaxy. Minutes from the end Galaxy again showed their class as the ball was laid off by Scott on the edge of the box, which seen Jake finesse the ball into the right hand top corner and seal the game, 4-1 Galaxy.

On reflection of the result it was a great all round team performance as Red House were no pushovers and proved this throughout the game as they also had chances to score more goals but Galaxy overall defended as a team and attacked as a team. Message from the off was we wanted to see more lads chipping in with goals and this was the case on the pitch as our attacking play was fantastic as we seen Ethan who was excellent in his attacking role chip in with 2 special goals as well as defensive hard man Jake put one top corner.
