Today’s game seen another cup tie this time in the Cubs Cup and it was Galaxy’s debut in this cup and they were handed the very difficult tie of Premiership opposition Ponteland PSG. Ponteland regarded as one of the best sides around had previously been promoted to the Premiership following last season’s successful Championship winning season as they claimed the crown of Division 1, the league Galaxy are making their debut season in this season 13/14. In the blustery and what can only be described as torrential down pours throughout the game Galaxy opted for the 3-3-2 formation and went out with the full intention of not sitting back but attacking Ponteland from the off.

The 1^st half was a game of missed chances from both sides with Galaxy pushing on the counter and Ponteland seeing a lot of possession but both sides been unable to get the 1^st goal. Ponteland were creating the better chances and after missing a few early long distance strikes Galaxy grew into the game and missed 3 golden 1 on 1 opportunities and it was to prove costly as just before half time with 5 minutes remaining Ponteland scored a world class goal as any model professional would have been proud to have scored following the Pontelands midfielders through ball which let their right winger tap past the oncoming Jamie in goal, 1-0 half time.

Galaxy encouraged at half time to keep playing the way they had been and frustrate their opposition and the goal would come for them but the second half turned out to be the same story as the 1^st half but for Ponteland put their chances away with some clinical finishes. They pounced with 15 minutes remaining as Galaxy looked to get the equaliser Ponteland caught Galaxy stretched and scored 3 goals to consolidate Galaxy to defeat in the 1^st round of the cup, 4-0 full time.

Galaxy given a lesson and shown that they need to take their own chances as teams at this level won’t keep missing chances as we are at the moment and will punish us in the same way we are trying to punish them. Galaxy were given encouraging words from fellow manager Adrian (Ponteland PSG) as he spoke highly of how impressed he was with Galaxy and also commented on how he feels we have more than enough quality to do well within our 1^stseason and develop as a very strong side.
