KYPC GALAXY U12'S
KINGSTON PARK 2 - 2 KYPC GALAXY
Kingston Park Galaxy Vs Killingworth Galaxy
Pin Point Junior League Division 2
12.00pm
The first game after the Xmas period could quite easy be one of the hardest
fixtures Galaxy will face all season as we travelled away to a very strong
Kingston Park side. The reverse fixture near the start of the season ended 1-1
with Galaxy scoring within the last 5 minutes of the home game. Galaxy came
into their first game of 2014 hoping to build on the last few games and
travelled to Kingston park without Jordan due to illness but the remaining 11
players were available for selection and went with Jamie in goal and the
backline was Luke at right back, James at centre back and Elliott at left back.
The midfield was made up of 4 layers as Sam started on the right wing and Dean
on the left wing, the middle of the park there was Scott and Ethan, with Callum
the lone man up front. This left Dominic and Jake on the bench chomping at the
bit to get on in the mid-afternoon clash.
Kingston park got the came under way and the 1st 10 minutes was a very close
midfield battle with neither side creating any clear cut chances with Callum
chasing down a through ball but the Kingston park keeper sweeping up. Kingston
Park fired in the real clear cut shot but Jamie was at hand to save comfortably
and ease the danger and settle the game down. Kingston Park started to dominate
the midfield as they packed it with 5 players which led to them becoming more
dominant and they were looking to use their pacey forward line to get past
Galaxy but down the left side Elliott was having the game of his career as
nothing was getting past him and he was playing the ball out with ease, which
he was do throughout the game. On the other side Luke again was playing very
well and was combining well with winger Sam and himself played some very
dangerous balls through the middle of the Kingston park defence. A substitution
was made with Jake coming on for Sam to shore up the centre of the park and
looking to make his mark on the game, he did just that as Galaxy looked to
settle down and starting to win 1st and 2nd balls. Kingston park to their
credit looked the more dangerous in the 1st half as the forced a number of
corners but failed to get shot on goal. Dean on the left side was having
another great game and was getting everywhere as he was not scared of a tackle
and was looking to feed Galaxys forward line but the game ended 0-0 at half
time.
Galaxy came in at half time and they had worked really hard and looked
dangerous at times and were told to settle down on the ball and test the
Kingston Park goalkeeper out more as there was belief in the lads they could
come away with a positive result. Dominic came on for Dean at half time and
Galaxy pushed on with 2 up front as we looked to take the game to Kingston Park.
In the 2nd half the game before more stretched as both sides looked to get the
1st goal and it was Galaxy who came closest as Ethan turned his marker on the
edge of the box but the shot just fired wide. The Kingston park attack pushed
on but James at centre back was winning all the arial battles and was playing
the ball out from the back with some fantastic play. It was to be Kingston Park
who struck 1st and took the lead as they fired home from sloppy defending from
Galaxy and left Jamie with no chance as their striker ran clear 1-0 Kingston
Park. Minutes later Galaxy pushed on and Scott won a free kick after his hard
work down the left side, which Scott had done all day work hard and look to go
forward, the ball was delivered into the box and was cleared and Kingston Park
broke away and fired in their 2nd goal of the game and leave Galaxy down and
out, 2-0 Kingston Park, 10 minutes left. Galaxy reacted and Sam and Dean came
back on for Ethan and Jake and Galaxy looked to attack and there was an instant
reply as Callum ran onto a through ball and cut inside beat his marker, and
slip the ball to Dominic who was free in the box and he smashed the ball into
the top of the goal, 2-1 game on. Straight away Galaxy won the ball back and
again Callum's pace helped himself beat the Kingston park defence and he ran
clear before beating his man twice but his shot was blocked and the ball was
cleared. Kingston Park forced a corner with 4 minutes remaining and Galaxy made
one last ditch attempt to get a result as Ethan came back on for Elliott as
Galaxy went 2 at the back 3 in the middle and 3 up front. One minute remaining
and Galaxy cleared another Kingston park attack and Callum layed the ball of to
Dominic who played the ball to Ethan who held of his man and with Sam running
clear on the right wing he played Sam through whos cross/shot was saved by the
Kingston Park keeper the ball fell to Ethan who smashed home on the volley and
send the Galaxy support into raptures 2-2. It was not over and with seconds
remaining Kingston park ran through 1 on 1 from the kick off but Jamie pulled
of a great save and Sam was their to clear the ball from danger and the whistle
went for full time 2-2.
At the full time whistle the draw felt like a win as the lads had come back
from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against one of the best sides in the North East and
league. The work ethic and team work shown throughout by all the lads was
fantastic and the effort they and put in was a credit to themselves and it
shows that they are a team who work for each other and will not give up til the
full time whistle. Galaxy given a pat on the back for coming back and claiming
a draw were also given a talking to about the sloppy goals conceded and they
need to be cut out if we are to keep getting the positives results we want to
get throughout the season.
