North Shields Vs KYPC Galaxy

Pin Point Junior Recruitment League Division 2

10.30 am

This was Galaxy's last game before the winter break over the xmas period and it was away to North Shields who were sitting high up in 3rd place in the league table and having a great season. The reverse fixture at the start of the season ended 2-2 at KYPC back in September which was a fantastic game with both sides having chances to win the game. Galaxy travelled without Elliott but apart from that the squad was fully fit and Galaxy changed back to their usual formation of 3-4-1 as Jamie started in goal with the defence having Luke, James and Jordan in the 3 and the midfield was filled up with Sam and Dean on the wings and Scott and Ethan in the middle with Callum up front, this left Jake and Dominic on the bench.

Galaxy in their away strip, Blue and Black, from the off looked to control the game and made an impact straight away as Galaxy pushed on and within 30 seconds Scott fired just inches wide after he 'Cryuff' turned his marker on the edge of the box. Galaxy again with Scott and Ethan starting to become stronger and stronger in the middle of the park were in control and this time it was Ethan who raced past 3 North Shields players and played the ball wide out to Sam who took one touch and beat his man and delivered a ball into the box, which Beckham would have been proud off, but Callum just failed to connect with the ball. North Shields always dangerous on the attack were looking to break down the Galaxy defence as they played 3 up front and they were been restricted to long distance shots as the back 3 were not allowing them to come at them and they protected their keeper Jamie superbly. It was again Galaxy who created another clear cut chance and again it was a fantastic ball that split open the North Shields back line which sent Ethan racing through but could only find the side netting from the resulting shot. Galaxy's left side of Jordan and Dean were having great games and Jordan looked the steady rock that we knew he can be and Dean was given his all as he used his strength and skill as he held of 2 players before playing Callum one on one with only seconds remaining of the 1st half but Callum just fired wide with his right foot, 0-0 half time.

Message at half time was simple for the gaffers who made it clear that they need to just continue playing football like they have done throughout and they will get chances but need to be more clinical in front of the goal. Galaxy kicked of the 2nd half and again within 30 seconds Galaxys Scott and Dominic played some great two touch football but Scott again just fired wide. North Shields were looking dangerous down the flanks but it was the same old story as the 1st half Jamie was not going to be beating if they got past the solid back line with Jake now on at right back who was having a very comfortable game as he kept making the easy pass. Galaxy drove at the North Shields side and were bossing the midfield as Ethan and Scott won every 2st and 2nd ball which was a pleasure to watch and again Ethan using his body and power to get through on goal he couldn't find the target. A few corners from galaxy had resulted in very little as North Shields broke from their Keepers long kick but James was excellent in covering at the back as he made a blocked tackle as North Shields came at the Galaxy back line. With 10 minutes to go again Galaxy created a great chance as it was 3v2 in Galaxy's favour but just could find the back of the net as Dominic went close as his shot wizzed past the post. In the remaining few minutes of the game Galaxy forced a corner as pacey Luke raced down the line and wip a ball in the box for it to be cleared behind, and from the resulting corner which was whipped in from Ethan Call rose the highest and the ball came crashing of the cross bar and with the follow up Dominic had his shot cleared of the line and Jake volleyed the ball straight back at the goal which was saved superbly. From the resulting save North Shields raced clear and went one on one with Jamie in goal who narrowed the goal down and made a superb save and maintain his clean sheet, 0-0 full time.

At the full time whistle a massive round of applause for both sides after a superbly contested game of football from two great sides who had given their all, Galaxy came in and every player was given a pat on the back and with the lads feeling as though they should have came away with all 3 points instead of just the 1 point. There was major plus points throughout and at the end of the game for the lads as their attitude and effort and their performance on and off the pitch was 110% which was very pleasing.
