KYPC GALAXY 2 - 2 NORTH SHIELDS
KYPC Galaxy Vs North Shields Juniors
Pin Point Junior Recruitment League Division 2
10.30am
It was the return of league action today following last week’s defeat to the hands of Ponteland in the cup, Galaxy welcomed North Shields Juniors to Killingworth and it was the 1st time these 2 sides have met in their short history. There was a late pull out from striker Dominic as he has been ill weekend and having given himself as much time as possible to play the game he just couldn’t make it.
Galaxy, playing in their blue kits, kicked the game under way and looked to settle the game down and knock the ball about from the start looking comfortable in possession. North Shields quickly got into the game and carved the 1st clear cut chance but were unable to force a save from the Galaxy keeper as it sailed wide of the goal. Then the 1st goal went to the away side after just 10 minutes North Shields took a long throw and Galaxy were caught ball watching as their pacey winger ran in to fire past Jamie in goal, 0-1. Instant comeback as Galaxy went on the attack and within minutes of conceding equalised as Callum ran onto a perfect through ball and placed his shot under the North Shields goalkeeper, 1-1 after 12 minutes. Galaxy, now in control with Jake and Scott dominating the midfield battle and the wingers Sam and Deano offering great outlets, began knocking the ball about with real purpose looking to get another and on 20 minutes Callum used his strength to hold off the centre back after another inch perfect through ball from Deano, raced clear one on one before rounding the goalkeeper to slot home, 2-1 Galaxy. Galaxy on the up and looking dangerous had another goal ruled out for offside just before North Shields again came back at Galaxy and within minutes of trailing found themselves back in it as the equalised through a smartly taken strike into the bottom corner, 2-2 at half time.
Galaxy were given instructions on how to defend against what at times looked like a front 4 from North Shields and were told more of the same in the second half as they looked to grab their 3 rd goal of the goal. Galaxy in the second half eased up the gears and enjoyed a lot of possession and were creating chance after chance but just weren’t able to find the back of the net. Ethan entered the fray and as always offered us another option, running at the defence putting them on the backfoot with every opportunity. That coupled with a midfield re-jig freshened things up a little bit as we looked to push on. The galaxy defence were playing against an very attack mind North Shields side as they played with 4 strikers throughout didn’t give their opposition a sniff second half reducing them to long shots. Galaxy were to apply the pressure deep in the North Shields half and striker Callum missing some fantastic opportunity’s from more excellent build up play which could have sealed the game for Galaxy. At this point it looked like a goal was inevitable and with James, Luke, Elliot and Jordan looking solid at the back and eventually getting the hang of the four man attack we had a solid basis to push forward from. Jake re-entered the pitch and after another midfield shuffle bringing Sam to the left and Luke on at right wing we had a lot of pace when attacking which looked like it was going to make the difference! With Jake and Scott back in the middle we certainly had the measure of that battle with Jake providing great cover for the defence, allowing Scott to do what he does best by unlocking the oppositions defence! There were a high amount of corners which came to no avail as North Shields stood firm and defended their goal with everything they have. They were also very dangerous on the break and they looked to grab the next goal couldn’t find any opportunity to have a shot at the goal which would worry Galaxy. North Shields long kick from the goalkeeper caused us problems throughout and some of his saves were out of the top drawer. Full time whistle blew 2-2 with both sides shaking hands at the end and both sets of managers complimentary on the game their two sides had produced.
Galaxy came off at the end wondering how they only had the 1 point as they know they should have had all 3 but them chances they keep creating need to be put away, but the positive side of things was its another point against a very strong side who remain unbeaten in the league and what is also very pleasing is the lads keeping creating chances and have looked more than comfortable in the league since making the step up from Saturdays to Sundays. Another great team effort and another fantastic display so well done Galaxy.
