KYPC GALAXY U12'S
New Fordley Vs KYPC Galaxy
North East Youth Divisional Cup 1st Round
11.00 am
8/9/2013
Galaxy returned to action on Sunday in the NEYD Cup and they had been plucked out the hat with the short journey to local neighbours New Fordley. Galaxy for the 1st time in the new season had a fully fit 12 players to choose from and it was a welcome headache for the managers who are looking for a good cup run this season.
Galaxy from the off pushed on for the opener and after going close and a few occasions 10 minutes in they eventually scored the goal they deserved and this was shortly followed up by the 2nd goal a few minutes later. Galaxy started to rotate their squad and in total control, they came in at half time 6-0 up.
The lads at half time were told to keep playing football but stop been greedy as they had all started to shoot at every opportunity. They went out in the second half and after been caught offside more than 20 occasions they quickly grabbed the next goal 2 minutes into the 2nd half. Galaxy ran out comfortable winners as the game eventually ended as the ref blew his whistle 15-0.
Credit to New Fordley who’s heads never went down and they continued to try in vain to push Galaxy’s back line but just couldn’t find a break through. Massive credit to their keeper as well as he was outstanding on the day and was their well-deserved man of the match.
Full Time: New Fordley 0-15 KYPC Galaxy
Goals: Callum 6, Ethan 3, Dominic 2, Jake 2, Jamie, Sam
DIVISIONAL CUP MATCH REPORTS
KYPC Galaxy Vs Longhoughton Rangers
North East Divisional Cup 2nd Round
11.00am
On a fine sunny Sunday morning Longhoughton were the long distance visitors to KYPC this morning to take on Galaxy in the Divisional Cup. Both sides yet to meet each other in the league as of yet faced each other in their 1st ever competitive game after they had previously faced each other during the summer in a pre-season friendly which Galaxy won 2-1 in a tight affair. Today was a different story though as both sides wanted a cup run and both sides wanted to keep their own winning streaks going from last week. Galaxy lined up with Jamie in goal and a back 3 of Luke James and Elliott with Sam and Dean on the wings and Ethan and Scott central and Callum up front, leaving Jordan, Jake and Dominic on the bench.
Galaxy got us under way and within the first 10 minutes Galaxy looked 2nd best in every area of the field and was struggling to get into the game. The first clear cut chance fell to the visitors but their effort went well wide. Galaxy then created their 1st chance as Callum was fed a superb ball down the line from Luke, Callum turned their left back inside out and left their centre back for dead but for only their keeper to make a great 1 on 1 save and they cleared of the ball from the danger area. Within minutes of this attack Longhoughton took the lead as they broke on the counter as Galaxy piled forward the ball fell to their midfielder on the edge of the box, who fired home after 15 minutes, 0-1. This did not wake Galaxy up at all and in fact their heads looked down and after making a few changes with Dominic replacing Sam and Galaxy going 2 upfront and Luke moving to the right side of midfield with Jordan and Jake also entering the field of play for Ethan and Dean Galaxy looked to get an equaliser before half time but without any prevail.
Half time came around and the lads came in at half time and knew they had performed at all but they were only 1-0 down they still had a fighting chance if they could get their game going. Galaxy went out and again the shape of the side was just not working and Longhoughton deserve so much credit as they did not let Galaxy settle at all once all day as every time midfielders Scott, Jake or Ethan had the ball they were chased down in packs and we lost the ball. Whilst at the back it was we looked shaky and kept lashing at the ball and were just not settling down. Then came the sucker punch as again Longhoughton counter attacked and pounced by scoring the 2nd goal of the game which was very poor from Galaxy as not one midfield player tracked back this left the back line off Jordan, Elliott and James helpless to stop them firing past Jamie in goal who could not do anything about the goal, 0-2. In fairness it was a fully deserved goal and Galaxy was getting well beaten and didn’t look like anything was going to fall for them today. Galaxy made a few changes with Callum coming off after working hatd all day along with Scott who had never stopped either. All of a sudden going 2-0 down made Galaxy fight back and straight away they played their 1st bit of football all day as Ethan and Dominic and Luke all linked up well and Ethan raced clear and smashed the ball towards the top corner only for their keeper to make a finger tipping saving and tip it over the bar for a corner. Minutes after coming on Dominic had to come off with a Knee injury and within minutes of coming back on he followed up Ethan’s shot and fired home, 1-2 with 4 minutes left. Galaxy immediately won the ball back and with now Scott back on and Galaxy playing with 3 up top Callum broke free and cut inside the box, but the Longhoughton defender appeared to clip Callum and he went down. but the ref waved play on, what looked a certain penalty was not given and Longhoughton ran out 2-1 winners and fully deserved the win after a dominate performance.
On reflection of today’s performance and result Galaxy could not complain after they only have themselves to plain for been knocked out of the Divisional Cup but one thing is for sure Galaxy will not play any worse again this season and next Sunday they will come out firing as Jones and Wilson get them going in training midweek and they will give themselves and their parents a performance to shout about.
